Barbara Bergin, MD, FAAOS, is a 1981-graduate of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Lubbock, TX. Her postgraduate training includes her residency in orthopedic surgery served at the University of Missouri Health Care in Columbia, MO, and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Lubbock, TX. Dr. Bergin attained board certification in orthopedic surgery with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Furthermore, she has been elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeon. Included in the 2021 Austin Monthly Top Doctors, Dr. Bergin is a member of several professional societies and associations, which allows her to remain at the forefront of his challenging field. Prior to enrolling in medical school, she completed her undergraduate education at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, in 1977. Dr. Bergin and her husband enjoy horses and cattle at their ranch in Smithville, Texas. She competes in the western performance horse sport of reining and has been declared the 2014 Limited Non-Pro Champion (Heart of Texas Reining Horse Association), the 2014 Limited Non-Pro Reining Champion (Little Joe Cash), and the 2014 Year End Non-Pro Reining Champion (South Texas Reining Horse Association). Author of a successful novel entitled ENDINGS and published in 2007, Dr. Barbara Bergin is now working on a new novel in addition to being a singer and songwriter pf bluegrass, western, and American music genres.  An engaging speaker, Dr. Bergin’s areas of presentation include topics such her women’s health initiative, S.L.A.M. ™ (Sit Like a Man), female empowerment, or her fundamental presentation, Ten Tips to Success.
